For Microsoft, in many respects, 2009 promises to be much like 2008. The company has all the same challenges it exited 2008 with – lingering legal issues, efforts to test and ship the latest version of Windows, and the continued development and evolution of its “cloud computing” plans. This program has been in private beta for a while now — but just recently it was opened up for everyone to use. Friend Connect is an extremely simple way to make any website you have a bit more social — people that “join” your site (which I think can be confusing when you already have a mechanism for users to sign up) can use embedded Google gadgets which take advantage of Google’s Open Social API.
